What is it?

Harmonic Mixing is a strategy for improving the musical compatibility of your mix transitions. By using the ‘Camelot Wheel’, you can reference the musical Key information of a Tune to find more suitable transitions that flow musically.

Mixlog helps you create these transitions and labels them on the spot to help you finetune your Sessions to musical perfection, hype, movement and story throughout your mixes.

Mixlog’s Harmonic System

With our friends at www.harmonic-mixing.com having laid the foundation of good practice by creating analytic software and documentation for DJ’s, Mixlog wants to build on this by providing it’s own take and embedding it into the Mixlog experience.

Harmonic Mixing with suggestions

By default, the Suggestion page (in a Session or Standalone Combo) will display compatible keys (which fit in your Search & Suggestion Filter) Randomised.

Tap the icon right next to the Filter icon to sort the Suggestions by Key.

When Suggestions are displayed by Key, the most compatible Keys are always shown at the top and the least compatible (Advanced) are shown at the bottom of the list.

Types of harmonic transitions

For the sake of versatility, we’ve created 2 styles of viable harmonic mixing transitions:
